The Friends Chair Heather Ogg met Orthopaedic Podiatrist Megan Slater at the introduction to the Podiatry Department of their new GE Healthcare Scanner obtained with financial support from The Friends.
The scanner is a Logique e R9 and it brings diagnostic capability directly into the patient clinic enabling significant service improvement for patients and helping to reduce waiting times for appointments.
Unlike standard X-rays, which primarily show bones and joints, ultrasound allows clinicians to visualise many of the structures commonly involved in musculoskeletal foot pain. This additional information supports more accurate diagnosis, enables more targeted treatment planning and helps patients gain a better understanding of their condition.

The addition of diagnostic ultrasound within my practice has enabled me to further support my patients, offering them quicker access to scanning and helping to establish an earlier diagnosis.
